Zak Engineered Timber Envelopes #zakete is a one-day conference with the latest innovations and challenges in the mass timber industry.
For the first time in-person with more than 200 delegates from around the world, all gathered in London, the Zak Conference represents a great opportunity to share the know-how about the timber industry from different perspectives and create a larger network.
Thanks to zakete for inviting our director, Franco Piva, in this edition as a speaker with a presentation about “How Engineered Mass Timber Can Be Used For Façades”, giving our insights on Building Physics, Computational Design and DfMA.

As Ergodomus, when we think about the next project, the first thing we think about is the “digital twin“: the digital version – the one we engineer in our studio – of the future buildings. Because our claim is that What You Draw Is What You Get!
We model this “digital twin” using specific 3D software and augmented or mixed reality technologies. Then, it can be exported to the manufacturing machines, “printed”, manufactured, and pre-assembled off-site. Finally, all parts are transported to the work site for the final assemble, reducing the on-site waste and the overall assembly time.
This holistic approach derives from the particular position where Ergodomus is located in the market: we are positioned exactly in the middle between producers – on one side, and designers, contractors, developers, and builders – on the other side. Giving us a concrete idea of the whole process that leads to the final assemble of the building: from the feasibility study and the structural analysis in our studio to the on-site supervision.
The know-how acquired in 15 years of experience has allowed Ergodomus Timber Engineering to collaborate with many different companies around the world and design more than 300 mass timber projects.
