CLT – Cross Laminated Timber

CLT, or Cross-Laminated Timber, is an engineered wood product made by layering several sheets (or “plies”) of timber, typically arranged in perpendicular directions. This cross-lamination process enhances the structural strength and stability of the panels, making them an excellent material for both load-bearing walls and floors. CLT was invented in Austria/Germany in the late 1990s to early 2000s and has since become a game-changer in the timber construction industry.

The typical configurations for CLT panels are 3, 5, 7, or 9 plies, though the number of layers can vary based on the structural requirements of the project. CLT panels can be manufactured in impressive dimensions, often exceeding 3.5 meters in width and up to 20 meters in length, allowing for large, prefabricated sections that can be quickly assembled on-site.

At Ergodomus we believe that CLT will be the future of sustainable building, as it combines the benefits of renewable timber with modern engineering, offering a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional building materials like concrete and steel. Its versatility, strength, and eco-friendly attributes make it ideal for a wide range of applications, from residential homes to multi-story commercial buildings.
