L’Italia è una nazione che si sviluppa con orientamento Nord-Sud e le condizioni climatiche che si possono incontrare sono molto diverse tra loro. Le case in legno sono piuttosto diffuse nel nord Italia ma al centro-sud cosa succede?
Qualche anno fa abbiamo avuto la fortuna di conoscere i fratelli Stefano e Valerio Piras titolare della Bio Energy House con sede in una delle zone più belle al mondo: la Sardegna e per la precisione nel cagliaritano.
Assieme a loro abbiamo contribuito alla realizzazione di alcuni edifici in legno con struttura portante in X-lam occupandoci della parte ingegneristica.
E’ pertanto un piacere averli “ospiti” questo mese per sentire direttamente da loro la passione che li ha spinti a superare moltissimi preconcetti per portare in Sardegna un nuovo modo di costruire: una vera e propria rivoluzione.
Sentiamo quindi dalla loro “voce” raccontata questa esperienza!
Da dove è partita l’idea e la voglia di costruire in Sardegna case in legno?
Tutto iniziò nel 2010 andando a visitare per la prima volta la fiera Klimahouse specializzata in materiali e case ad alta efficienza energetica. Entrati negli stand della fiera passeggiando tra gli espositori abbiamo scoperto che esisteva un altro modo di costruire, parallelo a quello tradizionale. Entrammo cosi nel mondo della bioedilizia, tra tutti i materiali visti, uno ci aveva colpito in particolare, il legno a strati incrociati, ovvero l’X-lam, un unico materiale per fare le strutture portanti, pareti e solai. Abbiamo capito subito che non solo c’era un altro sistema per realizzare gli edifici ma quel materiale non presentava i difetti che ben conoscevamo del cemento armato! Ponti termici, tempi di stagionatura, cantiere “sporco”, imprecisione, etc…
Quindi a questo punto qual è stata la mossa successiva?
Ci siamo messi a studiare facendo dei corsi mirati per questo tipo di costruzioni, ed in uno di questi abbiamo avuto la fortuna e il piacere di conoscere l’ing. Franco Piva, specializzato nella progettazione di case in legno. Chi meglio di lui poteva illustrarci questa materia a noi sconosciuta? Bisognava mettere in opera le tante nozioni ricevute che unite alla nostra esperienza cantieristica si sono tradotte in una vera possibilità di costruire in legno senza fare nessun errore. Sarebbe stato deleterio sbagliare all’inizio di un percorso, e questo naturalmente non è successo.
Quali sono state le considerazioni durante il primo cantiere in legno?
Nel giro di pochi giorni dall’inizio cantiere ci siamo ritrovati con tutta la casa difronte ai nostri occhi, una situazione a dir poco entusiasmante che ha caricato tutti gli animi compresi quelli degli operai. In poco tempo stavamo gestendo un cantiere più veloce, più silenzioso con il profumo e la visione del legno. Mano a mano che l’involucro si completava con le varie stratigrafie, aumentava la certezza di stare dentro un edificio migliore e tutto questo non poteva che confermare e accrescere la fiducia riposta in questo materiale.
E’ stato difficile adattarsi ad un nuovo sistema costruttivo?
L’ottima direzione tecnica dello studio Ergodomus è stata di grande aiuto affinché tutto andasse bene. Abbiamo quindi trovato il montaggio più semplice rispetto ad un lavoro tradizionale, grazie anche e soprattutto all’ingegnerizzazione di ogni minimo dettaglio richiesta da questo nuovo modo di costruire. Impossibile sbagliare.
Qual è l’aspetto più importante da curare in questi cantieri?
Pensiamo che valga un po’ per tutti i cantieri ovvero l’attenzione ad ogni dettaglio costruttivo che scaturisce da un’ottima progettazione e da una perfetta esecuzione: l’una non può assolutamente prescindere dall’altra. Non ci siamo dovuti inventare niente, tutti gli aspetti tecnici sono stati studiati prima, compresa la tenuta all’aria, al vento ed all’acqua. Dovevamo “solo” eseguire una corretta messa in opera ma l’esperienza di costruttori da tre generazioni ci ha permesso di non commettere errori.
Perché in Sardegna si dovrebbe accettare e capire questo nuovo modo di costruire?
Non neghiamo che ci voglia del tempo per sradicare il sardo dalle proprie convinzioni e quindi il compito sarà lungo e difficile, ma non dimentichiamoci che in Sardegna le vecchie abitazioni venivano costruite con l’utilizzo di materiali naturali come il legno, il mattone di fango (ladiri), canne e tegole di argilla. Quindi nel 2016 fare uso di materiali che appartengono a questa terra come il sughero, il legno, la lana di pecora, l’argilla, non può fare altro che accendere la curiosità di ogni sardo soprattutto poi se vi sono dei vantaggi reali! Quindi possiamo dire che è aumentata la ricerca di informazioni specifiche anche da parte dei tecnici che del legno iniziano ad apprezzare la duttilità, la leggerezza, la resistenza e la versatilità; vedi ad esempio le possibilità offerte per realizzare interventi di “piano casa”.
