A Modern Timber Structure
To achieve this, a CLT panel structure was introduced, ensuring exceptional structural integrity and energy efficiency. The use of timber brought warmth and sustainability to the renovation, creating a seamless blend of past and present. By retaining the original walls and implementing a state-of-the-art timber structure, the project showcases how Mass Timber can preserve cultural heritage while meeting modern performance standards.
Efficient Assembly, Minimal Impact
The construction process was designed for efficiency, with the entire structure assembled in just three weeks by a team of four workers. Notably, no fixed crane was required, highlighting the potential of off-site construction and DfMA principles to minimize site impact while maximizing speed and precision.
This renovation serves as a model for how timber engineering can revitalize historical buildings, respecting their legacy while equipping them for a sustainable future.
